​Basic Sewing Class for Students

Join our hand sewing class for students over winter break and explore the joy of fabric! This fun class teaches essential sewing skills through hands-on projects, perfect for beginners. Grab a spot today

                                           6 sessions-1 hr each

​Special Pricing: $15 per session or $80 for all 6 sessions.

Ages:Grades 2nd-5th   

 

What we will be working on:                                                                                 

 

Session #1

Hand sewing- Learning the names and use of the sewing tools: needle, thread, material, buttons, scissors, sewing or embroidery hoop.  Needles and scissors adjusted to age.

 

Session #2

Hand sewing- simple embroidery stitch- running stitch, cross stitch, satin stitch, making pictures and choosing one for a cat pillow  pattern. 

 

Session #3

Hand sewing- creating a simple cat pattern from  the picture, pinning the pattern to the fabric, working on embroidery patterns from lesson two, hand sewing a simple seam

 

Session #4

Hand sewing- choosing buttons and thread for cat eyes, sewing on buttons for eyes and nose of pillow, drawing whiskers, choosing embroidery thread and beginning to embroider whiskers

 

Session # 5

Hand sewing- cutting out and adding felt hearts, flowers and other fun shapes to the cat face or back of the pillow

 

Session #6

Hand sewing – finishing up face, pinning the back and front of the pillow together, machine sewing the back and front of the pillow together by the instructor.  Stuffing the pillow and hand sewing the closure.  

 

When: Winter Break  December 26, 27,28,30,31 and January 3. 

Time: 11AM-12PM. 

 

Where: To be held in the heated Learning Room inside the indoor arena. 

 

Each Student completing the 6 sessions will receive a personal Sewing Kit and take home their unique Cat Pillow.
